Drake misses out on $1,200,000 despite correctly predicting Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington outcome at UFC 296

At UFC 296, Leon Edwards retained the undisputed welterweight championship by defeating Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington. Despite headlining the PPV, the fight fell short of expectations, mainly due to Covington’s lack of offense and pressure.

Popular musician Drake, known for his sizable bets on UFC and other sports events, had wagered on the fight, a bet that did not pay off as the company shared on social media.

Drake misses out on $1.2m despite Leon Edwards win

UFC 296, headlined by Colby Covington and Leon Edwards, was highly anticipated due to the build-up of the fight. However, the fight was not a thrilling event as Covington failed to back up his trash talk and Donald Trump left midway through Covington’s octagon interview. Covington has now set his sights on Stephen Thompson, who lost to Shavkat Rakhmonov at the event.

Nevertheless, Drake lost his bet on the fight and lost 250K Dollars. The musician bet the money if won could’ve cashed out 1.2M Dollars. Edwards was the betting favorite for the fight and the fight was expected to go the distance and rightfully so.

Drake recently cashed out big at the recent boxing bout between Dillon Danis and Logan Paul. The musician bet 850K on Paul to win by KO and with Paul winning by DQ which is technically a KO, the Canadian won 1.3M Dollars.

Leon Edwards receives Jack Grealish message

Colby Covington’s offensive remarks made the whole of the MMA community side with Edwards and rightfully so. Edwards received support from many like Belal Muhammad, Jamahal Hill, Marvin Vettori, and Sean Strickland among others.

‘Rocky’ also got the support from compatriot Jack Grealish, the star winger of The Three Lions and Manchester City. Grealish on his Instagram story posted “come on leonedwardsmma” and “Let’s go champ” before and after the fight respectively. Grealish, like Edwards is from the city of Birmingham.

The victory made his title defense to 2 as he hopes to become a two-division champion in the premier MMA promotion in the world. Belal Muhammad and Shavakat Rakhmonov are eagerly awaiting the call from the UFC to confront Edwards for the undisputed welterweight title.
