Jayson Tatum walked off the court in Celtics loss to Warriors
During the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors encounter, the Celtics fans were forced to hold their breath midway, as star player Jayson Tatum appeared to roll his left ankle and hobbled afterwards to the locker room.
With 7:45 left in the first quarter, Tatum appeared to be stepped on by the shoe of the Warriors’ player Brandin Podziemski halfway through play. Following the incident, which didn’t appear like there was enormous force on the play, Jayson Tatum was seen heading to the locker room after twisting his ankle. Before the incident, Tatum had achieved just 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist while shooting 2 for 3 in 4 minutes of play.
As it was suspected that the injury wasn’t serious, Jayson Tatum made a return to the Celtics’ bench with 2:19 left in the first quarter. The great news was that Tatum walked in his power without limping, and later made a court return during the second quarter. Despite the injury incident, Tatum played for a total of 41 minutes against the Warriors and averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists while shooting 5 of 7 from the field.
Jayson Tatum provides injury update
After the matchup with the Warriors, there were fears that Celtics star player Jayson Tatum might had sustained an injury during the game. There also were high concerns if the star player will feature in the team’s coming matchups. Amidst the concern, the player himself has provided an update on his injury.
After the game, Tatum disclosed to San Francisco reporters that his ankle was swollen, which affected his playing on the court. Jayson Tatum said, “Not to make any excuses, but when you sprain your ankle it kind of swells up and it’s just stiff, so it’s tough to … it just makes it a little tougher to move.”
“But I still was out there, so I feel like if you go out there and play, you can’t make any excuses,” he added.
Following Tatum’s injury, it has become quite uncertain if the star player will feature in the Celtics’ back-to-back matchup against the Kings on the road. But it’s expected that without Tatum on the court, the team would be determined to maintain their top-seed spot and triumph in the coming games.
