Tyson Fury is widely regarded as one of the most formidable heavyweight boxers in boxing history. The British boxer takes credit for revolutionizing the British heavyweight boxing landscape, as evident from the massive success of his documentary series.
In a recent interview, The Gypsy King not only attributes the transformation of British heavyweight boxing to himself but also extends recognition to Anthony Joshua. Despite the ongoing dispute between the two British heavyweight boxers, Fury acknowledges their combined influence on the sport.
Fury reflects on his and Joshua’s impact on British heavyweights rise
During the interview with Sky Sports, Fury discussed various aspects of the present boxing landscape, including his perspectives on the impact he and Joshua have on the British boxing scene.
“I think we’ve given them a lot to aim for, with me and AJ. Because before I became world champion, Britain had only had maybe six or five world [heavyweight] champions throughout the history of boxing.” Fury said.

Fury believes that the recent successes of both himself and Joshua have led to a surge in ranked world heavyweights within the British boxing scene even though they’re not anywhere near world level at the moment.
“I think we’ve got a lot of talent. Young David Adeleye, Solomon Dacres, Johnny Fisher, Frazer Clarke, Nathan Gorman, Daniel Dubois. There’s a lot of red hot talent coming through in this country especially.
The WBC heavyweight champion is optimistic that their achievements have served as inspiration, hoping that the momentum will carry forward in the division, despite the presence of all the numerous rising prominent heavyweight boxers.
