The Golden State Warriors faced the Boston Celtics in a tightly matched game on Wednesday. The Warriors star Stephen Curry made sure to secure the win for the Dubs after a rare 3-pointer-less game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
In the game against the Celtics, Stephen Curry had a minor altercation with the Celtics forward Jaylen Brown. Curry’s teammate Chris Paul stepped in to provide some much-needed encouragement to the best shooter in the NBA.
Chris Paul backs Stephen Curry
The Warriors’ guard Chris Paul encouraged his teammate and locker room leader for the Dubs when needed the most. Stephen Curry had a moment with Jaylen Brown in the game where Brown had talked some trash to the best shooter in the NBA.
After that Curry dominated the game and demolished the Celtics to get the win for the Dubs. A clip of the incident was uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) where CP3 can be seen motivating Curry.
In the clip, Curry can be seen guarding Brown, who was attempting to find a way to the basket. While defending him, Curry was charged with a foul as his hand slapped Brown’s wrist. This was infuriating for the nine-time All-Star, and he appealed to the referee, claiming that Brown threw an elbow first.
Shortly after, Curry executed a beautiful drive and scored with a layup. After that Curry was seen trash taking a bit as he said, “F*** yeah! But I am small?” CP3 came in from behind and sprinkled much-needed motivation for his leader. He encouraged him and yelled, “Go finish this motherf***er.”
Doubt about Curry’s leadership draws response from Steve Kerr
The Head Coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr has slapped back at popular analyst Stephen A. Smith. Smith accused Warriors’ star Stephen Curry of not displaying the right leadership qualities when they are needed the most. He compared him to LeBron James and called on the community to hold Curry accountable, just as they would with James.
Smith reportedly said, “I understand that Stephen Curry is not a vocal leader and that if it was LeBron James or a teammate of his, we would be all over him… There is a way to lead, you do not have to do it like somebody else would do it but you gotta do it.”
Steve Kerr has brutally responded to Smith’s doubts in a post-game conference saying, “For anybody to question Steph Curry’s leadership is kinda sickening to me. I saw some of that yesterday and it was disgusting. Talking about one of the finest human beings that I have ever been around but that is the climate that we live in… As a professional athlete, you have to deal with everything and you have to accept it but there are some times when you have to say ‘Really? that’s the angle you are gonna take? You’re gonna question Curry’s leadership? Like really you gonna do that?”
Kerr’s response was a strong affirmation of his belief in the locker room leadership of Stephen Curry, highlighting the strong bond within the Dubs, which has contributed to their dominance in the NBA for the past few years.
