The Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling with their performances in the league and their rising talent, Austin Reaves had some words to say about it. The Lakers squad is having a problem right now with injuries.
This has left them short-handed with key players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis missing games. They faced the Minnesota Timberwolves, the top team in the Western Conference, and had to suffer a bitter defeat at their hands. A statement by Reaves was soon posted, highlighting the youngster’s nonchalant attitude towards the stats.
Austin Reaves seems unconcerned despite losing streak
The Lakers played the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday and had to accept a hard defeat with a final score of 118-111. They put up a great fight against the Wolves but were unable to snatch the victory from their hands. Soon after the match ended a statement by Austin Reaves started circulating on the internet.
According to Lakers Daily Reaves said, “I do not care about stats. I do not care about all the notoriety and all that stuff. I just wanna win games.” This statement by Austin Reaves shows his nonchalant behavior towards ranking his individual performance. He does not care about himself and shows his love for the team by thinking about winning games.
Given the current situation of the Lakers and the subpar performances they have been putting on since the In-Season Tournament ended, it shows a lot about the character of Reaves as a team player first and his desire to win.
Does the Lakers’ defeat stem from LeBron James’ absence?
Many people have been blaming the loss of the Lakers in recent games for the absence of LeBron James. The Lakers are dealing with an injury crisis that is keeping the key players away from the game. While the drop off in the performance cannot entirely be blamed on LeBron’s absence, there is no denying that his absence is negatively affecting the team.
Anthony Davis is also not fully healthy and is trying to do his best on the court with a hip injury. The rest of the squad including Austin Reaves is doing their best to secure a win but are not able to do so because of the absence of their executor.
Bron played the role of an executor for the Lakers and held the responsibility of finishing games on both the defensive and offensive ends.
LeBron James was unable to play in the game against the Timberwolves because of tendonitis in his left ankle. Lakers guard Gabe Vincent also missed the match which further reduced the options of viable bench players for the Lakers. The blame for this fourth consecutive loss for the Lakers entirely drops upon the unlucky injury situation at the Lakers camp and can partly be placed upon the squad for trying very hard in the In-Season Tournament while the regular season was still left at large.
What do you think of Austin Reaves’ statement demonstrating his desire to win? Do you think the Lakers will be able to make a comeback with the games left in the regular season? We are eager to hear your thoughts, so drop them down in the comments and let us know.
