The Green Bay Packers have started a new era under Jordan Love after breaking up with their 18-year NFL veteran, Aaron Rodgers. They had full trust in love, and seemingly, they were not wrong either. Love has showcased a series of good performances for the squad.
The Packers last win came against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17. The match hit the headlines for the injuries of their crucial players including wide receiver Jayden Reed. Besides the setback of injuries, another Packers player, running back Aaron Jones, also fell prey to misfortune by getting a brutal shove on his face.
Watch: Aaron Jones was brutally shot in the face during Vikings-Packers brawl
Following the conclusion of the Packers match against the Vikings, amidst the customary handshake routine, a brawl erupted between players from both teams. Aaron Jones found himself inadvertently in the middle of the escalating tension while he was attempting to defuse the situation. Despite his efforts, he was unfortunately on the receiving end of the altercation as Vikings cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. allegedly struck him in the face.
Addressing the altercation in a postgame interview with NBC’s Melissa Stark, the RB recounted the incident and mentioned his intervention to calm the altercation between players from the opposing teams.
“We were walking out to shake hands and I see one of our players having an interaction with a Vikings player who just finished playing and they getting in each other’s face, going at it and then start shoving..So I just kinda tried to de-escalate it, move him to his sideline and we were good after that,” Jones said via Sporting News.
The former Pro Bowler has once again moonlighted as a hero for the Packers by significantly contributing to their victory. His standout performance saw him amass an impressive 120 rushing yards on 20 carries. This game followed another exceptional display in the previous week’s win against the Carolina Panthers, where he managed 127 rushing yards on 21 carries.
Meanwhile, the game also served as a testament to the Packers dominance, as they outplayed the Vikings with a staggering 470 total yards compared to the Vikings’ 211. Their quarterback Jordan Love delivered a standout performance by going 24 for 33 for 256 yards. It was arguably the finest of Love’s inaugural year as a starter, filling the shoes of the esteemed Aaron Rodgers, who is grappling with injuries in the New York Jets squad this season.
Why did the Vikings vs Packers fight start?
The clash between the Vikings and Packers on Sunday appeared to be more than just a battle on the gridiron. Tempers soared during the 33-10 Packers victory at U.S. Bank Stadium, leading to a short but violent incident.
The main reason behind the scuffle remains unclear, but the sparks ignited when an inactive Packers player, concealed in a black hoodie, engaged in a heated exchange with the Vikings star Booth. The verbal confrontation escalated swiftly as the inactive player shoved the Vikings veteran, prompting Booth to respond by pushing away his opponent’s arm. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Aaron Jones inadvertently found himself in the midst of the scuffle.
Instead of letting the situation escalate after taking a severe shove to the face, Aaron Jones moved to disperse the crowd by pushing Booth away from the center of the violence. Thankfully, the disagreement did not escalate into a full-blown fight.
