Mohamed Salah debunks ‘superstitious’ theories surrounding his half-time boot change

Mohamed Salah is still one of the best wingers in England, still bossing opponent defenses for Liverpool. Even though the 31-year-old was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, he has stayed put and become a massive part of Liverpool’s title charge this season.

He had received much criticism after Liverpool’s disastrous season last year, but since then he has turned things around. And he continued his great performances this season with a great victory over Newcastle United yesterday.

Mohamed Salah reveals real reason behind his half-time boot change

It was a great victory for Liverpool, who grabbed a 4-2 win over Newcastle United. Mohamed Salah was the standout performer, having scored two important goals. This means he is now level with Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot with 14 goals scored so far.

However, the Egyptian had failed to convert a penalty in the first half to put his team ahead. But after the half-time break, he scored two goals in the second half, including another penalty. He also assisted the third goal for his team when Cody Gakpo scored. Some eagle-eyed fans noticed that he had changed his boots in-between the two halves of soccer, leading to many believing the player is superstitious.

But Salah decided to address those rumors himself and spoke to Sky Sports regarding this. He admitted the boot change, saying, “Yes I did. The other ones I missed the penalty with. It’s not superstitious because I play with many boots, but when I feel it’s going to play with my head, OK, out, change the boots!”

He explained that he did it to stay calm after missing the penalty with the other boots, “But I don’t like to go in the second half of this game thinking ‘I didn’t score with this.’ So I just made my mind calm and focused on the game. We have to stay calm. I missed the pen. At half-time I was like, ‘Do you want to leave for the national team with that performance?’ Not really!

In the end, it ended well for Salah and Liverpool, as he scored two goals in the second half to inspire a big win at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah reaches personal milestone for Liverpool

While he will be happy for the win and for making Liverpool retain the top spot in the Premier League table, Mohamed Salah also reached a personal milestone yesterday. With his brilliant brace yesterday, the winger had reached the milestone of scoring 150 goals in the Premier League.

This milestone makes him the fourth Liverpool player to reach 150 league goals, while being the third fastest to reach it. He currently has 151 goals for the club in the English top flight. He is also the fifth such player in the Premier League to do it for a single club. He is the fifth- fastest player to reach 150 league goals as well.

Mohamed Salah also recently broke the 200 goal barrier for his club, scoring 204 goals so far. Currently, he is the best attacker in the league, scoring 14 goals and 8 assists, respectively the player with the most goals and most assists so far. It also makes him the player with the most goal involvements in the 2023-24 season so far.

Mohamed Salah has left the club to go on international duty for Egypt in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations trophy. He will miss Liverpool’s next game against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.
