Why did Patrick Clark AKA Velveteen Dream issue apology to WWE, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and the fans?

Velveteen Dream, the former WWE NXT wrestler, was released from WWE in May 2021. Dream’s last match in WWE was on December 23, 2020, where he lost to Adam Cole. Following the match, Dream was not mentioned in WWE until his release in 2021.

After three years, Dream has released a video on social media, addressing his mistakes in WWE and offering apologies to the entire WWE organization and the fans.

Why did Velveteen Dream issue public apology?

On January 2 2024, Velveteen Dream posted a 5 minutes long video from his official Instagram account. Dream started the video by apologizing for his behavior in the last 3 years of his life. He said he has accepted his mistakes and expressed his apology to the WWE organization.

Dream extended his apology to the Chief Content Officer of WWE, Triple H and said, “I wanna apologize to Paul Levesque. Paul, you are such an understanding and patient man and leader and getting the opportunity to work with you and learn from you and how you’ve been able to handle the responsibility of being in the public light. I want to apologize to you, Paul, I’m sorry.”

He also apologized to Shawn Michaels, who is the current Senior Vice President of Talent Development in NXT saying, “Shawn, it’s still beyond me that I’ve been having the opportunity in this lifetime to learn from you, and to have your mentorship and guidance. And I apologize if you feel like you’ve wasted your time and your energy, investing into me.”

Dream concluded the video by expressing, “Anyone that I’ve upset or offended because of my behavior. Man, I’m sorry, and I hope you all forgive me. Thank you”. He expressed his willingness to clear his name and reputation and his interest in working with WWE again in the future.

Why was Velveteen Dream released by WWE?

Velveteen Dream was very popular during his NXT carrier. Dream had a Prince-inspired gimmick and his career peaked when he won the NXT North American Championship from Johnny Gargano on the February 20, 2019. However, his career went to downfall, when he was accused for sending sexually explicit photos and voice messages to minor WWE fans on social media. Although Dream denied the allegations but many fans and wrestlers lost their respect and trust in him.

Following his release from WWE in 2021, Dream was arrested by Orlando Police Department twice for trespassing on a property in Orlando. He was also arrested for charges of first-degree battery. The former WWE Superstar EC3, once revealed that Dream was found filming in the washrooms on a party.

Many WWE Superstars have comeback to WWE after being fired for various reasons. Recently CM Punk made his return, which the fans never saw coming, as Punk spoke against the Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon in 2014. Despite Dream’s chances of returning to WWE is very less due to this past allegations, WWE will surely consider him to bring back.
