WWE has signed several wrestlers from National Wrestling Alliance throughout its history, dating back to its early days as the WWF, where superstars like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and Goldberg came to WWF after having a dominating career in the NWA division.
Recently, WWE has reportedly offered a new NXT contract to a former NWA World Women’s Champion, Kamille who’s contract with the NWA came to end on January 1.
Who is Kamille?
Kamille, an American professional wrestler who worked under various wrestling promotions such as Platinum Pro, Real Pro, and Shine, started her wrestling career in 2017 under the ring name Kamilla Kaine. She made her National Wrestling Alliance debut in 2018. She was a member of Strictly Business, a faction led by the current General Manager of SmackDown, Nick Aldis, during his days in the NWA.
She was called as the “insurance policy” and joined Strictly Business along with Thom Latime and Chris Adonis. The faction dominated the entire NWA roster for four years and was disbanded in 2021. Nevertheless she debuted on 2018, Kamille had her first match in 2020.
She defeated Madi Maxx in her first match and became the number one contender for the NWA World Women’s Championship by beating Rosa in 2021. On June 6, 2021, at the When Our Shadows Fall event, Kamille made history by defeating Serena Deeb and became the NWA World Women’s Champion.
Kamille was one of the dominant women wrestlers in NWA, and her signature moves, like the “Nightmare Facebuster” and the “Air Raid Crash,” became crowd favorites, leaving opponents reeling and audiences awestruck.
WWE reportedly offer Kamille a NXT deal
Kamille’s has not resigned with the NWA after her contract expired on January 1, 2024. According to reports, WWE has offered a contract to Kamille to be a part of the NXT Women’s division. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter said that WWE has offered a new deal to Kamille and it is expected to be an NXT contract. He also said that Kamille is likely to join WWE as the member of NXT.
Kamille made very few appearances in NWA after losing her title to Kenzie Paige at the NWA 75th Anniversary, ending her 813-day championship streak. After her loss, she was rumored to be a free agent, but Kamille stayed with NWA until her contract expired.
Reports also confirmed that the contract was offered to Kamille, as a request from the Endeavor Group after the merging of UFC and WWE into TKO group. With Shawn Michaels as the Senior Vice President of talent, NXT has now become one of the popular brands in WWE next to RAW and SmackDown.
However, there is still no confirmation whether Kamille has accepted the offer from WWE, but if Kamille joins the NXT roster, it will become one of the most powerful roster in the WWE.
