Fans want Matt Eberflus sacked after Bears announcing the termination of OC Luke Getsy and crew: “Fire Flus Now”

Amidst the challenges faced by NFL teams, the Chicago Bears stand out due to their offensive struggles. Amid this, the team fans want their quarterback, Justin Fields, to carry on the starter role rather than drafting Caleb Williams, though Fields himself is not sure of his job.

In the midst of a broader trend of NFL head coach firings, including Ron Rivera and Arthur Smith, the Bears garnered attention by parting ways with several offensive coaches. Nevertheless, some fans advocate for a similar approach towards head coach Matt Eberflus.

Bears sack OC Luke Getsy and crew

The Bears are making sweeping changes to their coaching staff after falling short of the playoffs, as they relieved several offensive coaches of their duties on Wednesday. The list includes offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert, running backs coach Omar Young, and assistant tight ends coach Tim Zetts.

The decision stems from the Bears’ lackluster season, particularly their struggles in the passing game, which ranked 27th in passing yards per game. Despite a strong rushing performance, the passing attack remained one of the league’s worst. It finished in the bottom third for completion percentage, touchdown passes, and passing yards per attempt.

Surprisingly, head coach Matt Eberflus, who holds a 10-24 record in his two seasons, managed to retain his position. Interestingly, it was Eberflus who took the unusual step of personally deciding to part ways with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy after discussions with general manager Ryan Poles, team president Kevin Warren, and team chairman George McCaskey.

“You look at the passing game, certainly that’s one aspect of it. And that’s where it is. We decided to move on from that. And again, that was my decision, obviously conferring with Ryan and George and Kevin, and we made that decision this morning.”

Despite the team’s 7-10 record, the move surprised many, as the Bears exhibited promise in the final stretch, securing four wins in their last six games.

Fans want Bears HC Matt Eberflus fired

While a team struggles with their offense, it is mostly common to blame the offensive coaches. Nevertheless, for the team’s overall performance, it is the head coach who is mainly responsible.

Hence, the Bears fans can’t find solace in seeing the head coach still in his position while most of the offensive coaches lost their jobs. They demanded Matt Eberflus be the next one to join the firing saga of the Bears team.

In this case, one fan even mentioned the Chicago team’s head coach as a “coward” and wanted him to join the list of offensive coaches who lost their jobs due to Eberflus’s advice.

The Bear’s unwavering love for their head coach came as a major source of irritation for the team’s fans. They voiced their frustration for letting him see another stint in Chicago despite his failure in guiding the team and acquiring the perfect blend of OC and DC.

What’s your opinion regarding the Chicago team fans’ bold demand?
