Rising pro wrestling superstar and former FTW Champion Jack Perry has made his return to the wrestling industry after being absent since August of last year. There has been little to no update on his status with Tony Khan’s promotion, AEW.
Perry made a surprising appearance during NJPW‘s Battle in the Valley event, where he attacked Japanese superstar Shota Umino. Interestingly, after taking out Umino, he tore up a fake AEW contract and put on an armband that read scapegoat.
Jack Perry debuts at NJPW’s Battle in the Valley in style
Jack Perry was suspended from AEW following his involvement in a brawl with CM Punk during the AEW All-In. As a consequence of the incident, Punk was fired from the company and has since returned to WWE. Several aspects of this situation require further examination.
It seems that AEW has been making some unusual contract decisions recently, particularly concerning their on-screen storylines. For instance, MJF’s name was reportedly removed from their official roster, despite rumors that he had re-signed with AEW in 2022.
On January 13th, NJPW’s Battle in the Valley took place, featuring a surprise debut for Jack Perry. During the event, Perry attacked Shota Umino and then proceeded to tear up his AEW contract on camera. This unexpected act suggests that Perry may no longer be affiliated with Tony Khan’s company. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Perry after this shocking turn of events.
What happened between CM Punk and Jack Perry that led to their suspension from the AEW?
Last August, rumors emerged about a double suspension in the world of wrestling. Today, Sports Illustrated officially confirmed this news. As a result of the suspension, CM Punk’s major plans have been affected. He was expected to play a significant role in this week’s AEW programming leading up to the All Out event in Chicago on September 3rd.
There was a physical altercation between Punk and Jack Perry backstage at Sunday’s AEW All In pay-per-view, just before Punk’s opening match with Samoa Joe. This fight resulted from an incident that happened backstage at Collision a few weeks ago. At that time, Punk had rejected Perry’s idea of using real glass at an angle.
During his pre-show FTW Championship match with HOOK, Perry mentioned something about the use of real glass in a car spot. This led to a physical altercation between him and Punk, with conflicting accounts of what exactly happened. While one source claims that Perry did not throw a punch and that Punk put him in a chokehold, other reports suggest that Perry made comments about the Second City Saint, which provoked the altercation.
According to some reports, there was a shoving match between Punk and Perry, and while some claim that Punk shoved Perry, others say that Perry bumped into Punk. However, both individuals were certainly asked to leave by security, as confirmed by multiple outlets, including Haus of Wrestling.
After the All In event, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the incident and stated that he was aware of something happening and that the incident was under investigation. Punk has reportedly not spoken to Khan since the incident.
According to a report by F4WOnline, it is believed that both CM Punk and MJF wrestlers will be suspended for their altercations. This means that neither of them will be able to participate in the upcoming All Out pay-per-view event in Chicago.
According to PW Torch and Fightful, CM Punk threatened to quit AEW after an incident with MJF. Punk has expressed his dislike for the company and left London after the incident. Neither Punk nor MJF attended the AEW All In afterparty. Later in September, it was reported that both Punk and Perry had been fired.
