The Memphis Grizzlies are facing a challenging season in the NBA with a significant injury plague looming over them. They already have several names on the injury list, and now their star, Desmond Bane, has also joined the list.
The Grizzlies have an average season so far with a record of 14-25, but they need to elevate their performances if they hope to make it to the playoffs. However, with a growing injury list, it doesn’t seem likely that they will achieve that goal.
Desmond Bane latest inclusion in Grizzlies injury list
The Memphis Grizzlies star Desmond Bane has reportedly joined the injury list along with his teammates. Banes is reported to be out with a grade 3 left ankle sprain which he most probably suffered in the game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
The estimated time for Bane to be out of the league is at least six weeks which is a huge time for the Memphis camp. Bane is a key player for the team and can also be considered as the second in command for the Grizzlies alongside their star player Ja Morant.
With him not competing in the upcoming games it would be very difficult for the Grizzlies to try to climb up the ladder in the rankings. The latest obstacle in their path would be the upcoming game against the Golden State Warriors, however, the Warriors may be without their ace Stephen Curry.
Jake LaRavia joins growing list of injured Grizzlies
To exacerbate the challenges for the Memphis Grizzlies, their forward Jake LaRavia has also been recently listed as injured, joining Desmond Bane. LaRavia was announced to be suffering from a grade 2 high ankle sprain, likely sustained in the game against the New York Knicks on Saturday. There is no estimated time for his comeback, but reports suggest that he will be evaluated after three weeks.
With the increasing number of injured players in the Memphis camp, the responsibility to carry the Grizzlies would have fallen on the shoulders of their star player Ja Morant. However, Morant himself has been ruled out of the entire season after playing just nine games as he suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder.
Morant would not be playing any more games this season and there is no report on his estimated return date. Now only time will tell what decisions the management of the Grizzlies will take to cope with this dreadful situation.
