Today’s NBA trade news sheds a spotlight on the NBA star Pascal Siakam and his current trade situation. The Toronto Raptors have decided to trade Pascal to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a great deal.
Siakam’s trade to the Pacers came out as a bit of a surprise to many as the former Raptors star was heavily linked to a move to the Golden State Warriors. Previously, Clippers star Paul George had also shared his thoughts on Pascal’s move to the Bay Area.
Raptors trade Pascal Siakam to Pacers
The Toronto Raptors have traded their star Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers in a great trade deal that appears to be beneficial for all the teams involved. Siakam is a great talent who has been successful in making his own identity in the NBA. His presence is felt on the court when he is playing, and he is especially dominant in the paint.
Having Pascal would give the Pacers much-needed strength under the rim and would also guarantee them an All-Star performer on the squad. As per ESPN’s Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pacers are exchanging Jordan Nwora, Bruce Brown, and three first-round picks for Pascal Siakam. The New Orleans Pelicans are also involved in the trade, sending Kira Lewis to the Raptors.
How did Pelicans get involved in Raptors and Pacers trade deal
The New Orleans Pelicans were having a trade alongside the Pascal Siakam deal between the Raptors and the Pacers. However, instead of having a major role to play in the trade, the Pelicans were there just to level out the economic imbalance in their squad and save themselves from potential trouble. They sent Kira Lewis to the Raptors which is more of a money-saving move.
With Lewis going to the Raptors, the Pelicans would come under the Luxury tax threshold and it would save them from any potential trouble in the future. This trade would not impact the rotation of the Raptors as Lewis has just played in 15 games this season and has averaged 2.9 points in 9.6 minutes. It is highly unlikely that the Raptors would use him as part of their strategies, but we can’t be sure of anything right now.
