Aaron Rodgers injury update: Jets QB is in incredible great shape walking without crutches and throwing warmup passes at Eagles-Jets game

The tag of the unbeaten team in 2023 NFL season so far was erased from the Philadelphia Eagles in week 6. The New York Jets managed to give a surprise blow to the potential Super Bowl contenders by beating the franchise with a 6-point win.

The entire Jets fanbase, who got heartbroken following the season-ending injury of Aaron Rodgers, must be going head over heels as their team advanced one step further towards securing a playoff berth. Meanwhile, Rodgers had also given them another reason to be happy as his physical status ahead of the Eagles vs Jets clash seemed surprisingly promising.

Aaron Rodgers is looking really good at the Eagles-Jets game

Rodgers has been present at the last two of Gang Green’s home games. Five weeks after tearing his left Achilles tendon, the quarterback appeared at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, donning white T-shirt and black sweatpants along with a Jets cap. He was also present in the Jets’ 3-point loss to the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs.

Prior to the Jets 20-14 win over the Philly squad, the signal-caller was seen walking without crutches or a walking boot. His movement appeared to be normal like before, and he was even snapped throwing balls with the Big Apple’s cornerback Sauce Gardner for 15 minutes, who couldn’t play the match against the Eagles due to a concussion.

The 39-year-old was seen putting some weight on his left leg while attempting a 15-yard pass. He also had chitchats with his fellow teammates, with whom he used to connect via FaceTime during his recovery in Malibu. When the veteran appeared in the Jets match against the Chiefs, he was on crutches on the sideline, and hence, the recent development is surely signaling his quick recovery from the unfortunate injury.

What caused Aaron Rodgers’ injury?

Rodgers suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles during Gang Green’s season-opening match against the Buffalo Bills after trying to avoid the sack of the opponents’ rusher Leonard Floyd.

Dr. Robert Glatter, an ex-sideline physician of the Jets team and assistant professor of emergency medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, earlier pointed out the exact reason behind the signal-caller’s injury. He marked some factors like sudden movement, Floyd’s weight in the QB’s back, and his injury history as the main reasons for the tear.

“The sudden movement of his heel and foot upward, with the weight of Leonard Floyd on his back, along with his prior calf strain were important factors leading to his complete Achilles tendon rupture. His age was also a factor, and perhaps the type of turf,” he said.

The four-time MVP underwent a “speed bridge” surgery in the previous month to enhance his rehabilitation process to head back to the field early. Though the surgery doesn’t ensure his expedited comeback, it projects the possibility for him to resume play by mid-January. Now, the time will tell if A-Rod can ultimately return donning the Jets jersey soon.
