After the frustrating ending with his former team Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers seems to have found a new life with the New York Jets. The quarterback led the Packers team pretty much throughout his whole career after stepping into the NFL.
However, after grasping the leading position of the Jets, it seems he has taken the responsibility of speaking for the team’s front office also. Recently the star player threw a subtle dig at the Denver Broncos head coach regarding his comment on Rodgers’ OC Nathaniel Hackett.
Aaron Rodgers rips Sean Payton
A-rod seems to possess a great loyalty to Hackett as he greatly polished his career under the guidance of the offensive coordinator during his back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021 in Green Bay.
A-rod shared his disapproval of Payton’s cheap remark about Nathaniel expressing his strong feelings for his coach during an interview with Peter Schrager during Back Together Weekend on NFL+. The 39-year-old claimed that the statement made by the Broncos coach was unexpected and improper. Additionally, he called Payton “insecure” in his interview without much hesitation.
“Yeah, I love Nathaniel Hackett. Those comments were very surprising for a coach to do that to another coach. I thought it was way out of line and inappropriate,” said the veteran.
Aaron at last warned Sean to not utter the name of Hackett, “I think he needs to keep my coach’s name out of his mouth.”
How did Sean Payton offend Aaron Rodgers?
After formally taking over as the Denver Broncos head coach this offseason, Payton started to criticize the work his predecessor did after only a few months.
In an interview with USA Today’s Jarrett Bell, the Broncos coach mentioned the era of Hackett in Denver as “might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL. That’s how bad it was.”

After 15 games and 11 losses in his first and only season as the Broncos head coach the previous year, Hackett was sacked. As a result, Payton raised the subject in his interview and pushed back in placing the responsibility on Hackett and other team executives.
“Everybody’s got a little stink on their hands,” Payton said in the article. “It’s not just Russell. It was a [poor] offensive line. It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL. That’s how bad it was.”
His aggressive statement drew a lot of criticism from the Jets team, and the two-time MVP is the most recent to respond.
