Speaking to Taylor Rooks in his first rounds of interviews as an AC Milan player, Pulisic expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi. Taylor Rooks questioned the former Chelsea star on Messi’s magical debut and wonder free-kick goal in Friday’s match against Cruz Azul.
“It almost doesn’t surprise you anymore,” the USMNT captain said with a smile that signaled his admiration for perhaps the greatest player in soccer’s history.
Pulisic also mentioned Messi’s performance at the World Cup final as one of the Argentine’s greatest accomplishments. Lionel Messi scored a brace in the final to help Argentina lift the World Cup in a heated contest against France, which also saw Kylian Mbappe bag a hat-trick.
How will Christian Pulisic fit into AC Milan’s playing style?
While Christian Pulisic has showered enough encomium on Messi for his wonder debut in the MLS, he also hopes to have a memorable debut when he plays his first league game for AC Milan against Bologna next month. AC Milan reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season for the first time in a while but was unfortunately beaten by rival Inter Milan.
Pulisic will have the chance to help AC Milan return to its glory days under Stefano Pioli. It’s unclear how the legendary Italian manager will deploy the USMNT captain.
