Lionel Messi is regarded as perhaps the greatest footballer of all time. The Argentine has shared the spotlight with rival Cristiano Ronaldo, but Messi himself admits that he has completed football with the World Cup in 2022.
It is pretty astonishing what Messi has achieved in his career. Three Champions League trophies, seven Ballon d’Or awards, and a World Cup trophy to cap it all—Adidas has now paid tribute to the former Barcelona forward with a special pair of boots.
Adidas drops new Lionel Messi boots featuring a GOAT, World Cup stars
Lionel Messi has always been considered an all-time great, but his lack of success in the World Cup made him a bit of an afterthought in the eyes of many. However, the former PSG player ended that notion in style when he led Argentina to their first World Cup in the modern era, cementing his place as the greatest player in the world.
Following his record-breaking achievements, Adidas has now paid a befitting tribute to him.
The sportswear brand released a new pair of boots for Messi, using the man himself to promote them. The boots have a color combination similar to the Argentina team kit but with a black band at the back and a gold design stretching from the boot’s edge to its sole.
What caught the eyes of many fans were the subtle details of the boot. At the back of the first piece of the pair, Adidas added a GOAT design, World Cup stars (indicating the number of times Argentina has won the World Cup), and Lionel Messi’s official logo. In the second piece, Adidas accompanied Messi’s iconic No. 10 with the company’s logo.
Soccer fans react to Lionel Messi’s new GOAT boots
Fans are always excited to see new boots hit the market, but Lionel Messi’s GOAT boots by Adidas have taken the excitement level through the roof. The boots are an indication by Adidas that Messi is the greatest player in soccer history, and fans’ reactions to the release of the pair of boots have been overwhelmingly positive. On their Twitter page, ESPN said, “New Lionel Messi’s boots have a goat on them.”
Another comment from a bittered fan indicated that FIFA scripted Messi’s triumph at the World Cup. “After a scripted World Cup? Adidas needs to do better,” the person said on Twitter.
