CM Punk, since his return to WWE, has only had one televised match, which was the 2024 Royal Rumble in January. But his shadow still haunts AEW as the Nashville-based company aired CM Punk’s infamous backstage altercation with Jack Perry from last year’s All In pay-per-view in London during a segment on AEW Dynamite.
The move backfired spectacularly on social media as the wrestling community has moved on from the issue, making AEW the only one clinging onto it. To express their disapproval of the Young Bucks’ decision to air the footage, fans on Saturday night’s AEW Collision tried to hijack a match featuring the twins. During the match, which saw the trio of the Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada take on FTR and Pac, the fans erupted with “CM Punk” chants.

While it momentarily distracted the performers in the ring, another section of the crowd soon drowned the chant with loud boos. The “CM Punk” chants during the recent AEW show prove how poorly AEW management executed the attempted angle since CM Punk is already done with them and is focusing on his WWE career.

AEW was not the only show where CM Punk chants broke out, as the same happened during WWE’s UK tour Live events. The latest one happened in Belfast where the target of the chant was Drew McIntyre.
Drew McIntyre shuts down WrestleMania in UK demands due to CM Punk chants
According to PWInsider, Drew McIntyre is working through the UK tour with an injury that he suffered during WrestleMania 40. After his jibe at Wayne Rooney in the London show, the “Scottish Psychopath” also decided to have a swipe at the fans during the event at SSE Arena on Saturday.
After the crowd pelted him with “CM Punk” chants, the 38-year-old teased the fans in attendance by flirting with the WrestleMania in the UK notion. He hyped the crowd by talking about how cool it would be to have the “Show of Shows” in Ireland but then ditched the thought of talking to respective authorities to make it possible by citing the crowd’s “CM Punk” chant as a reason for his denial.

While CM Punk is recovering from the injury he picked up at the Royal Rumble, the two are yet to face each other in a match in the squared circle, but with the rivalry escalating, the day might not be far enough.
Well Said Mate!!!
