After being caught belittling Bills WR Stefon Diggs, reporter publicly apologizes to the NFL star

Stefon Diggs, the Minnesota Vikings 10th pick in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, got traded to the Buffalo Bills a couple of years ago. Since then, he had alleged that the Vikings did it to slow down his career.

During the off-season, Diggs suffered a series of backlashes due to getting involved in a clash with his quarterback Josh Allen. Recently, he has also been called out by a reporter inside Buffalo Bills’ media room, albeit the reporter apologized following the incident.

NFL reporter gets caught insulting Stefon Diggs

On Wednesday, a snippet of hot mic conversation circulated on the social media where Maddy Glab, a Bills team reporter, can be overheard passing some ‘not-very-nice’ comments about Stefon Diggs. To summarize her comments made on the player would be that the veteran doesn’t give priority to anyone in the squad and does things as he feels best.

“There’s no control over Stefon Diggs. Dudes gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face and say ‘F you.’ That’s how he treats everybody.”

Glab also blamed the team showing tolerance to the 29-year-old star’s rude conduct. However, the Bills squad might not focus much on the off-field behavior of a footballer who was the only shining star in their embarrassing loss to their division rivals New York Jets in the week 1 game. He has so far recorded more than 100 catches along with 1,200+ receiving yards in each of his three seasons with the franchise.

Reporter issues public apology to Stefon Diggs

Diggs’ job in Buffalo is projected to be secured for a prolonged period given his track record of success, but Maddy Glab’s job might be in jeopardy following her controversial comments. Hence, she took to social media to address the topic, and tried to impress the Bills vet by gushing about him.

“I want to take ownership for what I said today. I am very sorry for what I said and meant no ill will. I respect the hell out of Stefon Diggs, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has great character and treats us media with lots of respect. He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do.”, she wrote.

The reporter wrote the backstory of the incident saying she was asked by others to get the footballer, but she refused saying Diggs wouldn’t listen to her and made those comments.

“For context, media was waiting for players to come out for press conferences when a reporter joking told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I don’t have control over him — Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him.”

Maddy heaped praises on the former first-team All Pro saying he maintains playful relationship with the reporters and apologized to him as well.

“He has a playful relationship with our video department, so that’s why I said he probably wouldn’t say yes to grabbing him for an interview.I should not have said what I said, and I apologize for that. Stef is not in the wrong, I am.”
