After Jets HC embraces Aaron Rodgers’ presence as beneficial for Zach Wilson’s development, New York bolsters offensive line to protect new QB

The New York Jets and their new member Aaron Rodgers seems to be hitting headlines almost every single day since his inclusion in the Jets’ roster. The QB has not only ‘reportedly’ impressed and motivated his teammates, but also has brought a lot of public attention.

Rodgers is set to become Big Apple’s starting quarterback, removing Zach Wilson from the spot. However, the Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh thinks the latter would also be benefitted from the move.

Jets HC Robert Saleh hails Aaron Rodgers’ impact

The Jets past two season starter Zach Wilson said he would make the Jets’ new QB’s life hell without knowing the person would be Rodgers, albeit seemingly the four-time MVP made his life a bit like by taking over his place to the team’s new QB1. However, Saleh thinks the 39-year-old veteran’s addition would provide Wilson with a new learning curve,

“Whenever you got a guy who can sling it like he (Aaron Rodgers) can, you’re lucky almost. There’s not a lot of guys in the world that can do it like he can. What’s great about it is there’s a young man right behind him that’s learning and absorbing everything. His presence is great for everybody.”

Gang Green’s HC later heaped praise on Zach saying he is now being optimistic about showcasing athleticism on the field,

“I thought he had a really nice day. He made some good throws, he’s getting really comfortable in the pocket, stepped up showing good presence in there, not afraid to use his athleticism in the pocket to move in practice. He’s doing a really nice job. I only expect him to get better and better.”

Jets bolster Aaron Rodgers’ protection

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Gang Green decided to keep their veteran left tackle Duane Brown out of the fan’s sight in the first training camp on Saturday by placing him on the Active/PUP (physically unable to perform) list.

The former All-Pro OT joins tight end C.J. Uzomah, running back Breece Hall, defensive back Jarrick Bernard-Converse, and wide receiver Randall Cobb on the list, albeit they might be activated any time now and at the start of the regular season games. He was granted an ‘excused absence’ from the start of training camp, and now he would be out of the practice session for a few more days.

Saleh said Brown’s absence would not be for a prolonged period by stating, “Yeah, he’s getting closer [health wise].”

The 37-year-old had been a starter in 215 games throughout his career and allowed just one sack as well as four hits in 12 games last season. With his previous track record of success, Duane is expected to shine with A-Rod in the pocket after coming off the list.
