After Lionel Messi’s Luis Suarez reunion, Inter Miami eye Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho made one of the unluckiest transfer moves in the history of the sport when he left Liverpool for Barcelona in January 2018, at the peak of his career. The Brazilian playmaker had established himself as one of the best playmakers in the world, with him being the brightest star in the team Jurgen Klopp was trying to put together.

Sadly, the Barcelona move didn’t work out, despite playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. A few years down the line, Philippe Coutinho could yet again be reunited with Messi, as Inter Miami have registered interest in signing the former Liverpool star on loan from Aston Villa.

Inter Miami reportedly target Philippe Coutinho

At this point, it’s safe to dub Inter Miami ‘Inter Barcelona’ due to their recent signing of former Barcelona players, which now amount to four in their team. It was first Lionel Messi last July after months of speculation on where the Argentine would end up playing the following season, and boy, did he produce some moments of magic on his debut.

Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba joined the David Beckham-owned MLS franchise afterwards. Although the team failed to reach the MLS playoffs, they won the inaugural Leagues Cup, which was Messi’s first trophy as an Inter Miami player and the club’s first-ever trophy since it was founded.

The club added Luis Suarez to their ranks last month, with the Uruguayan striker getting reunited with his close friend and former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi.

Philippe Coutinho is the latest player to be linked with a move to the United States to play for Inter Miami after failing to impress on his loan move in Qatar. The Brazilian could benefit from playing in the MLS alongside some of his old teammates and could revitalize his career after a difficult period since leaving Liverpool in 2018.

Philippe Coutinho’s Barcelona spell failed to produce magic

Philippe Coutinho spent less than five years at Liverpool and still managed to score more than 50 goals from a playmaking position. Coutinho quickly established himself as one of the best in his position and was a huge part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team was challenging on all fronts for trophies.

Sadly, Liverpool failed to keep hold of the Brazilian after seeing Barcelona submit a bid in the region of $120 million for the midfielder.

The former Inter player would end up spending a season and a half at the Catalan club before joining Bayern Munich on loan in August 2019. Although Coutinho won two La Liga titles in his first spell at Barca, he failed to get the best out of himself and eventually lost the support of the fans, prompting his move to the German club.

The Brazilian has since played for Aston Villa and Qatari side Al-Duhail since that time, the latter of whom he plays for on loan from the former.
