Jalyn Holmes is likely to finally find his new home after having back-to-back bad luck by struggling to make the rosters of the New York Jets and Chicago Bears.
The New York Jets’ defense improved from last place in 2021 to fourth place at the end of the 2022 season, demonstrating how serious they are about their defensive line. They made news once more before the regular season with a significant trade involving Holmes and their newly acquired player Ifeadi Odenigbo.
Jets announce Jalyn Holmes’ signing
To make a significant choice in their defensive room, the Gang Green did not organize a practice on Monday. Officials from the team made the announcement that Homes had been signed to replace Ifeadi that day. In order to create room for Holmes, who was only able to make the roster for one game with the Bears last season, the Jets placed their new defensive end on injured reserve.

The 27-year-old was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2018 draft, where he played in 25 games and registered 43 tackles and a sack. He spent a year with the New Orleans Saints, making 14 tackles during that time. Holmes has made 34 regular-season NFL appearances in his career and has accumulated 60 tackles, three pass deflections, and one sack.
Injury update on Ifeadi Odenigbo
The former Vikings player Odenigbo joined the Jets on July 21. However, before the season started, the Jets put him on the injured reserve list to make room for the new defense. He was absent from the Jets’ preseason game against the Panthers.
Ifeadi had the opportunity to create a roster for the Minnesota Vikings, the Cleveland Browns, and the Arizona Cardinals in addition to the Vikings, but he was unable to do so like Jalyn. The defensive end joined the Indianapolis Colts last season and registered 3.5 sacks. Yet cut short by them in December. He had 41 solo tackles, 31 assists, 10.5 sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries throughout the course of his career.
Nero fiddles while Rome Burns! Odenigbo’s season may be finished once more after being put on the reserved list. On the other hand, Holmes might succeed in grabbing Ifeadis’ spot and making the final squad.
