Tony Ferguson faced his sixth consecutive loss in the UFC as he was submitted by Bobby Green in his most recent octagon battle. As an excuse for defeat, Tony claimed to have experienced an eye poke from his opponent.
However, the eye poke claim did not overturn the outcome as Bobby was still declared the winner. Normally, Eye pokes are considered unlawful moves in the UFC regulations but they must be observed by the proper authority.
Tony Ferguson reflects on his bout vs Bobby Green
After his loss at UFC 291, Tony Ferguson shared his thoughts on Instagram about the fight in Salt Lake City. The lightweight veteran expressed that he entered the Delta Center with the intention to prove to the world that he was back on track.
Tony Ferguson highlighted the excellence of his preparation and regarded it as one of the best training camps he had ever experienced. Nevertheless, he also asserted that Bobby Green’s alleged eye poke during the fight caused him significant trouble and impacted his performance.
“As the fight began, I was in the Zone, flowing & feeling confident. Bobby knew the direction of the fight & I believe he knew what he was doing when he poked my eye. He has a big History of moves like this. It significantly impaired my vision, making it difficult to see clearly out of my eye. Despite this eye poke I never considered stopping the fight.” Tony said.
