Manchester United are a club that does not seem to be without controversy or problems for a single moment. The club has had a poor start this season, with unsatisfactory performances and a huge unsatisfied fanbase.
But their off-the-pitch problems are even more problematic for their image. The recent cases of Mason Greenwood, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are evidence enough of the shambolic state of the dressing room. However, the club has opened a new investigation into another situation within the club.
Manchester United launch internal investigation
Manchester United are currently having a massive injury crisis at the club. With the season just beginning, the club has already seen a massive amount of injuries sideline players, affecting manager Erik Ten Hag’s decisions and the team. Already, 16 players have missed games due to injuries, a concerning trend.
Even new signings Sofyan Amrabat, Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Sergio Reguilon have also been injured, leading many to doubt the situation within the club. And now, with all the injuries, United officials have decided enough is enough. They are now conducting an investigation into the injury issue, searching for any patterns that may help determine why there are so many players suffering from it.

Most of the injuries are muscular issues, which are often due to body stress from games and improper recovery. Impact injuries are unavoidable and are not up to the club or players. The main focus of the investigation by the medical department will be whether the large number of games they played last season could be a factor. Indeed, the staff has noticed neighboring rival Manchester City facing a similar injury crisis, as both Manchester sides played the most games last season.
Manager Erik Ten Hag summed it up in one line: “One thing is true, from the start of last season I almost never started with the best starting XI, it was always something like an injury.”
United’s current injury situation
The team has already lost many key players due to injuries, hampering the season. The list includes Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Sergio Reguilon, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, and Amad Diallo. All of these players would be out for quite some time, blowing a dent in the United squad. Due to their absence, the secondary players have to play and are often not suited to the manager’s purpose.
Raphael Varane and Kobbie Mainoo are two players who recently returned to training but have had frequent injuries. Casemiro is the only one to get injured this international break, away from club duty. All these injuries are leading the club to consider getting in some new reinforcments this winter, especially in a defender.
With all these injuries, United have only managed to win 4 of their 8 games in the Premier League, losing the other 4. They are currently only tenth in the league, and are also last in their Champions League group stage losing the first two games.
Manchester United will next face Sheffield United on October 21, with Erik Ten Hag surely hoping the team manages to grab a win.
