The Brazilian midfielder has played for Real Madrid for a long time before moving to Manchester United. There he was reunited with two of his former Madrid teammates, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, and it looks like he will meet up with the latter once again.
Cristiano Ronaldo requests for Casemiro transfer
Cristiano Ronaldo had left Manchester United in 2022 and ended up at the Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, and it seems Casemiro could follow him there. The Brazilian is also close to a departure himself next summer, as the new management does not seem to want to keep him as a long-term option. With new transfer intakes incoming, the club also needs to free up space and raise funds, and Casemiro, who has high wages, could be shown the door.
And now, Al-Nassr seem to be heavily interested in pursuing the player and are ready to bring him in. A January transfer is not expected due to limitations in the squad, but a summer transfer is very much possible. With a contract until 2026, he could also command quite a price.
It is being reported that Ronaldo himself has asked the club to prioritize the transfer, and they will be keen to fulfill the wishes of their best star player. Casemiro himself seems to be open to such a move, as it will see him reunite with the Portuguese striker once again.
The pair know each other very well, having won multiple titles together at Real Madrid, including four UCL trophies. With Ronaldo wanting to win trophies at the Saudi club, a former teammate like Casemiro could help him achieve that.
Casemiro’s performance for Man United
Casemiro has been a great signing for United since he came in 2022 for a ÂŁ60 million fee. He came into the team during a difficult period, but immediately helped them become a strong team under manager Erik ten Hag. He was crucial in the first season, helping them gain UCL qualification and a 3rd-place Premier League finish. The team also won the Carabao Cup, his first and only trophy at Old Trafford so far.
The Brazilian has not managed to carry over his initial success into this season due to an overall downgrade of the team. He was still one of the best players on the team before his injury in December, which has since taken him off the pitch. He has started training with the team and could soon make his return to the team’s starting lineup.
Manchester United will now face Newport County next Sunday in the FA Cup 4th round, but whether Casemiro will play or not depends on the manager.
