Alexander Volkanovski talks on Max Holloway vs Justin Gaethje bout
Alexander Volkanovski has fought Max Holloway thrice at featherweight and is 3-0 against the fighter from Hawaii. Volkanovski has a YouTube channel where he provides picks and reactions for fights. In his recent video, he spoke about the BMF title fight at UFC 300.
“We can’t forget Max Holloway’s chin, it’s an undefeated chin. I’ve tried cracking it… is Justin Gaethje the guy to finish it? I’ve said that a few times and it just doesn’t happen,” said Volkanovski.
“I have to lean towards Gaethje… or do I go all out and back Max Holloway? My pick will be Max Holloway,” Volkanovski provided his pick for the BMF title fight after initially going the other way.
Volkanovski recently fought at UFC 298 but lost the title to Ilia Topuria via second-round knockout. The loss was his third defeat in his past four professional fights. Nonetheless, he is still in the pound-for-pound rankings per UFC Athlete Rankings.
Max Holloway ever knocked out in UFC?
Max Holloway has fought 32 times in professional MMA with 28 of those coming in the UFC. Moreover, he has a distinguished record of never being knocked out in the UFC. It needs to be noted that he has not even suffered a single knockdown in MMA.
The only time he was finished was via triangle armbar when he fought Dustin Poirier for the first time at featherweight. In his second fight against Poirier, which was at lightweight, he was close to being knocked down, but it did not happen as the cage saved him.
Holloway has fought dangerous strikers like Alexander Volkanovski, Yair Rodriguez, and The Korean Zombie to name a few. Still, nobody ever came close to hurting him despite the heavy punches they landed.
Nonetheless, he will be facing the hardest hitter of his entire MMA career when he will face Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. Gaethje is fresh off a knockout victory over Dustin Poirier who is 2-0 against Holloway.
