Aljamain Sterling claims he has put on 40 lbs. weight less than a week after loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 292

Aljamain Sterling had set his sights on establishing himself as a bantamweight legend by securing four consecutive title defenses. However, he fell short against Sean O’Malley at the TD Garden in Boston as UFC 292 marked the rise of a new champion in the bantamweight division.

Barely a week after his defeat against O’Malley, Aljo took to his social media to share pictures that vividly portrayed the massive amount of weight he has gained back since the match. Making the case for his move up to featherweight stronger.

Aljamain Sterling claims to have gained 40 pounds in a week

The UFC 292 headliner showcased The Funk Master defending his title against O’Malley. Following the official weigh-in, Aljo posted a tweet indicating he had quickly regained the weight he had initially shed for the fight and expressed intentions to put on more weight after the fight.

Fast forward a few days, Sterling has hinted that he has further increased in weight. According to the former 135-lb king, he’s gained 40 pounds since his showdown with Sugar. Before UFC 292, The Funk Master had expressed a desire to move to the featherweight division with hopes of challenging Alexander Volkanovski.

However, given his unsuccessful title defense battle against Sean, his focus has now shifted toward addressing other issues in his game. Should Aljamain truly aspire to secure a rematch, his notable weight gain could serve as a clear indicator that a return to peak physical condition might be necessary.

“Proving that he’s a weight bully rather than any near a P4P great in mma. This guy wouldn’t crack top 15 of featherweight.” another user said.
