American pop star DaBaby picks Hornets LaMelo Ball over Luka Doncic, Ja Morant, Victor Wembanyama as best NBA player to build the perfect team

NFL legend Shannon Sharpe hosted the popular American rapper and pop star DaBaby on his weekly podcast. He presented the rapper with a difficult question to choose a basketball player among several others, and DaBaby chose the Hornets’ star LaMelo Ball.

DaBaby has been a big fan of the NBA and basketball as a sport in general. He has often featured names of superstars from the NBA in his songs and has also been seen partying and hanging out with some of them. So, his choice of picking LaMelo Ball over the other options surprised many fans.

DaBaby shares his thoughts on LaMelo Ball

Shannon posed a question in front of DaBaby that left the pop star in a bind. He was asked to choose a player under the age of 25 in the NBA around whom he would build a franchise. The rapper chose LaMelo Ball as the player he would build a franchise around.

He named great players like Luka Doncic, Spurs new rookie Victor Wembanyama, and Ja Morant but Da Baby still stuck with Melo. He said, “That is a conflicting question. Imma go with ‘Melo, I am rocking with the home.”

Da Baby couldn’t hold his thoughts back while talking about Melo, he was full of praise for the Hornets star. Shannon then asked, “What’s your thoughts on Melo?” Da Baby replied, “I love Melo man, he is out there with people but still humble. He ain’t doing tucking in the sideline, he’s controlled… He’s a ball player, Melo is a ball player!”

LaMelo Ball’s performance this NBA season with Hornets

LaMelo Ball has been great for the Charlotte Hornets in the 2023-24 NBA season. The point guard has averaged 22.6 points per game while also showcasing his rebounding abilities by averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. He has been a key part of the offense for the Hornets leading his team in scoring and assists. His scoring prowess has improved with him scoring 48.1% from the field and 42.0% from downtown.

In addition to his offensive contribution, LaMelo has also been a great defensive asset for the Hornets this season. He has managed to average 1.0 steals per game and is currently one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA.
