It’s not often that a rival club’s legend comes to praise you, but it has happened with Tottenham superstar James Maddison. James has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season ever since he decided to join Tottenham.
Maddison’s recent great performances have earned him quite a bit of coverage, and he has been included in the England squad as well for that reason. However, he is yet to get the playing time he really deserves, and one rival legend has pointed it out.
Cesc Fabregas lavishes praise on James Maddison
It is Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas who has given high praise to Tottenham’s James Maddison. Despite Maddison being a player of his rival club, that has not stopped Cesc from appreciating his talents.
Fabregas highlighted the talents of Madison and said that he is a really complete player. According to The Mirror, he said, “He’s got the personality to demand the ball, to make things happen and to create situations. He’s good at dribbling, he is good at assisting and he can score goals. So he’s a really complete player in my opinion.”
He further added that a player like Maddison is a great team player who you must need to play, “He has a good understanding with Son and the strikers and for me he’s a fantastic player to have. And definitely he is one of them you would always want in your team.”
But despite his kind words and Maddison lighting up the Premier League, England national team manager Gareth Southgate doesn’t seem to prefer the player. After all, the Manchester United linked coach has a star-studded squad, and it is understandable how Maddison can miss out. Southgate has indeed taken him in his squad, but he remains as a bench player despite having the ability to play as a starting player.
James Maddison continues to shine at Spurs
James Maddison was a great player for Leicester City, but had to leave after they got relegated. Tottenham Hotspurs decided to splash €40 million on him last summer, and he has been nothing short of brilliant. Under new coach Ange Postecoglou, he has been at his best and has done everything in midfield for them.
Maddison has scored 4 goals and provided 8 assists so far in the Premier League and would have had more if not for an ankle injury. He has started all 18 games in which he has participated, and was the main reason behind their early success this season. With a lot of games missed due to injury, Tottenham fell behind without their star player.
However, Maddison has returned to fitness and is still balling for his club. He is now going to be part of the England squad that faces Brazil tonight, though there is doubt on whether he will be playing.
