Aston Martin honors Ilia Topuria with $248,086 supercar following UFC 298 triumph

Ilia Topuria, the current UFC featherweight champion, became the first fighter from Georgia to attain UFC glory. Born in Germany to Georgian parents, Topuria has been a resident of Spain since he was a teenager and considers the nation his home.

Topuria’s victory over Alexander Volkanovski, the long-reigning champion, at UFC 298 had already skyrocketed his fame, with the UFC in the works to have Topuria’s first defense in the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ilia Topuria receives Aston Martin supercar

The Spanish branch of the British luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin has gifted Ilia Topuria an Aston Martin DB13 for his recent success as the undefeated UFC featherweight champion. Topuria received a hero’s welcome in Madrid at the airport, and the recent gift from Aston Martin Madrid shows how much the country cares for Topuria.

The vehicle gifted to Topuria is the latest edition of Aston Martin’s DB series, made popular by the James Bond film franchise as the vehicle of the protagonist of the movie series. “Today he came to see us at @vipmartingroup El Matador #FernandoAlonso and took a gift from #AstonMartin The stars do align,” captioned Aston Martin Madrid on their official Instagram.

Topuria has already expressed his his interest in fighting the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor in his next fight but UFC CEO Dana White does not consider it a possibility. Max Holloway, Movsar Evloeve, and Brian Ortega are the potential candidates, who could challenge for the tile next with Ortega already making his case with a submission of Yair Rodriguez at UFC Mexico.

Ilia Topuria set to unveil UFC title at Santiago Bernabeu

Even before Ilia fought Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298, he predicted that he would defeat Volkanovski to become champion and defend his title at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. UFC CEO Dana White seems very much interested in making Topuria’s dream come true of fighting at the renowned football stadium.

Topuria will be presenting his UFC strap at the Bernabeu on February 25 before Real Madrid’s home game against Sevilla. Sergio Ramos, a close friend of Topuria, will be at the venue but the former Real Madrid captain will be donning the Sevilla jersey.

Real Madrid applauded Topuria for his victory at UFC 298 through their official social media channels and seems poised to support Topuria in his future endeavors. Former Real Madrid goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas also extended similar congratulations to the current UFC featherweight champion. Moreover, Topuria has also cited former Barcelona Talisman Lionel Messi as an inspiration even though he is a Madrista.
