After succumbing to defeat against the San Francisco 49ers, the soaring Philadelphia Eagles aimed to reclaim their legacy as they faced the Dallas Cowboys in a much-anticipated rematch. Despite the high expectations surrounding the clash of these two Super Bowl contenders, rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey made history, leading the Cowboys to hand the Eagles their second consecutive loss with a commanding 33-13 score.
Despite the victory, the Cowboys’ Micah Parsons departed the stadium with evident frustration directed at the officials. Simultaneously, an incident involving a worker at AT&T Stadium left law enforcement authorities equally frustrated with an unwelcome act.
Why is the AT&T Stadium employee facing serious charges?
During the highly anticipated Cowboys vs. Eagles game at AT&T Stadium, a 19-year-old employee, Diego Soto, was arrested and charged with commercial bribery. The Arlington Police Department revealed that Soto, whose responsibility it was to scan fans’ tickets after the security checkpoint, allegedly allowed a group of individuals into the stadium without tickets in exchange for cash.
The incident occurred amidst the Cowboys’ impressive 33-13 victory over the Eagles, securing Dallas’s lead in the NFC East division. Soto’s admission to accepting money in exchange for letting ticketless fans enter the stadium came after questioning by a detective.
“Police said an officer at the stadium Sunday was told that a contracted ticketing employee at an entry gate let in a group of people who did not have tickets. Police said the officer questioned the employee about the incident and that he admitted to accepting the money,” reported by WFAA.
Arlington police reported that an officer on-site was informed about the contracted ticketing employee’s actions at an entry gate. Later, a subsequent investigation revealed the cash-for-entry arrangement.
What is his punishment?
Soto finds himself facing a serious legal consequence, as the charge of commercial bribery brought against him in Texas qualifies as a state jail felony. With his bond set at $1,500, this adds a legal dimension to the aftermath of his alleged actions during the Cowboys vs. Eagles game at AT&T Stadium.
Nevertheless, Sunday night’s game was the highest-demand Cowboys matchup of the season, with ticket prices for standing-room-only tickets soaring into the $100-$200 range.
Despite the incident, the AT&T Stadium crowd remained rowdy for the primetime matchup. The police response during the game was noteworthy, with 90 calls for service ranging from parking violations to disturbances and fights.
While most calls did not result in official reports or arrests, two individuals were arrested for public intoxication, and one person faced apprehension due to existing arrest warrants.
Though a stunning brawl made headlines between a Cowboys fan and an Eagles fan, no major incidents were reported during the game. The tension in the stands was evident throughout the game, as reflected in the high volume of calls received by Arlington police.
The victor of the night, the Dallas team, is scheduled to encounter the Buffalo Bill in Week 15. Do you think they can hold on to their legacy over the Eagles in the NFC division? Tell us what you think in the comments.
