Soccer players often suffer injuries, which is a common event and an occupational hazard. These injuries can be frustrating for both fans and the club. Unfortunately, there are instances where injuries are intentionally inflicted by opposing players to gain an advantage.
Recently, Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni was declared injured after their 2-1 victory over Barcelona. Many suspected that an opposing player was responsible for his injury and criticized that player. However, the truth has now been revealed by Tchouaméni himself.
Aurélien Tchouaméni defends Gavi from injury blames
After the injury was confirmed by the club, fans were understandably disappointed. Tchouaméni has played every game for the club and has been a vital presence for the team.
Los Blancos fans, however, started to point out that Barcelona’s Gavi is the reason for the injury. In a video that went viral on social media, a clash between the two players is shown, which took place in the second half. Both of them tried to get to a loose ball, and afterwards Tchouaméni could be seen limping.
This led Real Madrid fans to berate the young Catalan superstar, who already has a reputation for being bold and rash on the pitch. But Tchouaméni clarified the situation to avoid any baseless claims. On his social media pages, the Frenchman wrote a caption sharing an article saying that Gavi is not at fault, “It’s not Gavi’s fault. I was injured at the end of the first half.”

As the video was in the second half and the player says he was injured in the first half, it dispels the rumor of Gavi injuring him.
The gesture by Tchouaméni has been regarded as a classy and respectful one. Not only did he speak the truth, but he prevented a rival player from getting unnecessary abuse from the fans. At just 23, he has proven to be more mature.
Aurélien Tchouaméni injury update
Aurélien Tchouaméni was Madrid’s machine in the midfield, playing all 90 minutes of the El Clasico game. While he was injured at the end of the first half, he still continued to play, showcasing his determination.
After the game, medical tests were held, and it was revealed that he tore his metatarsal in the left foot. They didn’t specify how long he would be out, but an injury like this usually requires a recovery period of 6 to 8 weeks. At best, he can be back by the middle of December if all goes well.
While Madrid will definitely miss him, they are lucky to not have any upcoming big games. The team is more than stacked to face the quality of the opposition teams they will face, with veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, along with Eduardo Camavinga capable of replacing him.
Real Madrid will next face off against Rayo Vallecano in the league on Monday, but they will definitely miss Aurélien Tchouaméni.
