Austin Theory engages in heated argument with journalist

An incident occurred when Austin Theory visited The West Australian’s office for a video interview with the sports department. While filming the interview, Theory engaged in a tense conversation with the chief editor, Anthony De Ceglie, following De Ceglie’s statement that wrestling is scripted.

Theory didn’t take the criticism well and replied, “You brought me here, and you’re going to talk to me like this? Just cause you’re in charge of some s**t doesn’t mean you can talk to me like this. You’re saying what I do is easy and you’re in front of all of your people talking about my job is easy … you couldn’t walk a damn day in my shoes. Are you kidding me man? I will smack the s**t outta you right now. I’m not playing around. Y’all bring me all the way out here for some media and this guy is talking his f**king head off. What’s his problem?”

Theory defended wrestling as a legitimate and tough sport, saying that De Ceglie couldn’t walk a day in his shoes. He accused the journalist of being ignorant, and challenged him to step into the ring with him. De Ceglie, who is a fan of Australian Rules football and Rugby League, claimed that wrestlers don’t really hit each other, and that wrestling is not as hard as other sports.

The situation escalated quickly, and security intervened to separate the two men, leading to Theory being escorted out of the building. The video of the altercation went viral on social media and sparked a lot of debate among wrestling fans and critics.
