“Baltimore I’m Back in The city”: Deonte Harty shares excitement after signing the Ravens deal

The Baltimore Ravens have officially welcomed back Deonte Harty for the 2024 NFL season. The native of Baltimore signed his free agent deal with the Ravens and soon took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his followers, expressing his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to return home.

“Blessed and Highly Favored!! Baltimore I’m Back in The city,” he wrote in his Instagram post, as per Essentially Sports.

With his return, Harty is poised to make a significant impact on the Ravens’ special teams unit, leveraging his experience as a former special teams pro-bowler in 2019.

As the NFL introduces new kickoff rules aimed at revitalizing the return game, his explosive playmaking abilities will be a valuable asset for the Ravens, given his proven athleticism with his former teams. Meanwhile, his homecoming couldn’t have come at a better time, as the team looks to bolster its return game and capitalize on the changes implemented by the league.

With the departure of Pro Bowl returner Devin Duvernay to the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency, Harty’s arrival provides much-needed depth at the wide receiver and returner positions for the Ravens. Alongside fellow receiver Tylan Wallace, the Ravens’ new addition is now expected to compete for the coveted return-man role.

Deonte Harty’s NFL career highlights

Deonte Harty’s NFL career began in 2019 when he signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption University. He then quickly made an impact with the Saints, showcasing his versatility as both a wide receiver and special teams contributor.

During his four seasons with the Saints, Harty established himself as a standout returner, earning All-Pro honors in 2019 for his exceptional performance on special teams.

After his tenure with the Saints, he continued to impress in the NFL, spending the 2023 season with the Buffalo Bills. Though he saw limited playing time on offense in Buffalo, he made the most of his opportunities, recording 15 receptions for 150 yards. Additionally, playing alongside Bills star quarterback Josh Allen, he averaged a career-high 12.4 yards per punt return, including a memorable touchdown.

Throughout his career, Harty has proven himself as a reliable and dynamic return specialist, averaging more than 25 yards per kickoff return. His ability to flip the field and create scoring opportunities for his team has perhaps caught the attention of the Ravens team.
