Barcelona’s desperate attempt to clear financial constraints sees latest addition of £13,000 diamonds made from old Camp Nou grass

Barcelona may be one of the biggest clubs in the world, but they are currently suffering from a dire financial situation. The Catalan club has had financial mismanagement in the past, which has led to much debt being accrued. And now, they are facing issues in registering new players as a result.

To solve this issue, the club needs to find new ways to raise revenue. And it looks that they have found a new, creative way to do just that.

Barcelona list £13,000 diamonds to club shop

The club is now selling diamonds to raise extra funds, which have been made from the iconic Camp Nou pitch. They are currently demolishing their old stadium, as they will build a new, modern one in it’s place.

The carbon from the pitch grass was collected and was then crystallised in a lab to form diamonds. Each diamond has been shaped by specialists to get unique pieces and also come with certificates of authenticity. The technology uses renewable energy, and therefore the diamonds are both authentic and sustainable.

On their official store website, they are selling the diamonds for one carat, 0.5 carat, and even 0.10 carat pieces. Many necklaces and diamonds are also available to buy with the diamonds in them. These pieces are being sold as memorabilia to keep memories of the old iconic pitch and are certainly not cheap. Prices range from £434 to £13000, with the one carat diamond piece the most expensive.

It is certainly a smart and creative way to raise funds for the team which immediately requires some emergency funding.
