Bayley won her first Royal Rumble match in January 2024 after she eliminated Liv Morgan to get the win. Right after that, she challenged fellow Damage CTRL member Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 40.
Bayley has clashed several times with the Kabuki Warriors and Iyo Sky in recent weeks. After Dakota Kai returned from her injury, Bayley was scheduled for a tag team fight with Asuka and Kairi Sane, but Dakota Kai betrayed ‘The Role Model’ in that match. Ahead of their SmackDown match, Bayley has conveyed a clear message to Dakota, which has ignited the feistiness of the match.
Bayley sends a clear message to Dakota Kai
Dakota Kai returned to WWE a few weeks ago and joined hands with Bayley in her fight against the Damage CTRL. Kai was out of action after she tore her ACL, and by the time she returned, her former faction had split due to an altercation. At the start of this month’s Friday Night SmackDown, Dakota Kai teamed up with ‘The Role Model’ to face off against the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane).
The WWE Universe was shocked after Dakota betrayed her friend and faction leader by abandoning her in the middle of the match. Asuka and Kairi Sane used this confusion to attack the 34-year-old star, Iyo Sky, who was in the ringside and joined the beatdown near the end.
SmackDown’s general manager, Nick Aldis, recently scheduled a fight between the former friends this week on the blue brand. Following their upcoming match, Bayley shared her feelings on Twitter, saying, “True friends stab you in the front”. Implying that Kai betrayed her face-to-face instead of going behind her back like other Damage CTRL members, Iyo Sky, Asuka and Kairi Sane.
During an interview with Kayla Braxton, Bayley shared her true feelings about being betrayed. She said, “Dakota, she used our history against us when I was in my most vulnerable state. She manipulated me, she tricked me and I fell for it. I’m paying for it, and everything I built is backfiring, and I’m all alone. Damage CTRL made the biggest mistake of their life, by underestimating me. I can adapt. I built Damage CTRL with all my heart, and I will do everything in my soul to break it.”
Bayley spotted in support of Mercedes Mone
Mercedes Mone made her first big debut on Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (AEW) during the March 13 episode of AEW Dynamite. After rumors were circulating that ‘The CEO’ was going All Elite, fans were highly anticipating her big comeback after she departed from NJPW. Bayley and Naomi, who are good friends with ‘The Boss’ Mercedes Mone, were rumored to join the AEW event to support their friend.
A picture was posted on Twitter, where a figure resembling Bayley was seen cheering upon Mone’s entrance to the ring. Mone was first scheduled to re-sign with WWE but according to reports, her asking salary was too much for the Stamford-based company. Tony Khan took this chance to hire Mercedes’ talent and sign her into his company.
Bayley has multiple times stated that she would have loved to have Mone back in WWE. As they are good friends, it is natural that ‘The Role Model’ looking out for her friend was a given. She even revealed that a potential match between her and Mercedes would make WWE reach higher heights than every other promotion in the business.
