Tyreek Hills’ favorite player and Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons has had his fair share of ups and downs in his career. He recently response to the taunts from the Philadelphia 76ers fans who are constantly after him and boo him during his games.
Simmons was drafted by the 76ers in the 2016 NBA Draft, and it was his first team. However, things did not fare well between them, and he moved to the Brooklyn Nets but despite the move, the animosity remained.
Ben Simmons responds to taunts from 76ers supporters
Ben Simmons has responded to the toxic 76ers fans who have constantly booed him over the years. It has become a constant practice that whenever Simmons comes to Philadelphia to play against the 76ers, the home fans mercilessly boo him.
The same happened on Saturday when the Nets played against the 76ers at their home court, and once again, Simmons was subjected to boos. However, this time, he had a response for the disapproving crowd.
“This is what? my second third time back. So, it is a little bit different now. Um, it is funny to me that I have grown men pissed off and yelling at me. You know it’s like going home after getting this win.”
“For me, I am all about winning so I need to do my job and get to go home but you know it’s fun like I enjoy it. It is not that deep, it’s sports but it comes with it,” said Simmons laughing off the taunting 76ers fans. The Brooklyn Nets had the last laugh anyway as they won against the 76ers at their home with a final score of 136-121.
What’s Ben Simmons’ feud with 76ers?
The relationship between Ben Simmons with the Philadelphia 76ers has been a relationship filled with animosity and bad player management. As mentioned earlier, Simmons started his career in the NBA with the 76ers when they drafted him in the 2016 NBA draft.
Simmons came into the 76ers with big hopes. However, they turned blank as the problems arose between him and the franchise.
The rift between the two sides started when Simmons was mentioned in trade talks related to James Harden in 2021 which did not come to fruition. However, Simmons was a bit offended that the franchise was ready to let him go, and the animosity began.
Later down the line, the franchise fined Simmons a lot for multiple different reasons and Simmons’ agent Rich Paul even criticized the 76ers for their treatment of the player. Eventually, Ben could not take it anymore and decided to request a trade, Subsequently, he was traded to the Nets in exchange for Harden in 2022.
