Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase “don’t want” QB Joe Burrow to play in NFL game week 1 following serious calf injury

Joe Burrow was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals, one of the poorest teams in the league, but as a consequence of his God-given talent and laser-like accuracy, he has contributed to the Bengals winning two AFC North titles in a row.

Only the Bengals’ players and fans are aware of how crucial Joe is to the team’s starting lineup given the rising anxiety over his proneness to injuries. Because of this, one of his teammates does not want him to play in Cincinnati’s season-opening game.

Ja’Marr Chase shares candid thoughts on Joe Burrow playing in week 1

The Bengals’ receiver Ja’Marr Chase cherishes a deep emotion and love for Burrow as he previously stated the quarterback as the league’s best player without hesitation. The 26-year-old pulled his right calf during a practice session last month.

Chase said shortly after Burrows’ injury that he wasn’t very worried about the quarterback’s condition; albeit this time, the receiver appeared to be a little more concerned about the Pro Bowler’s comeback.

Following Friday’s training camp, Chase participated in an NFL Network interview where he was open about Joe’s injury. According to Ja’Marr, the starter was informed that JB needed to fully recover from his injury before he would assume the starting position.

“I told him that with all honesty I don’t want him there,” Chase said of Burrow on Friday’s Inside Training Camp. “Same thing with me last year.”

Due to a hip ailment that he had himself, Chase took his time and was firm that he would only return when he felt well. He then discovered that he was fit enough to run before his playoff match. Hence, he wants the quarterback to follow his footstep.

“I sat out an extra game just to let my hip all the way heal up, and you don’t want to cause no other problems later on in the season, and I told him as long as you’re there after Week 5 and on, we’re good brother.”

He met the medical staff in the field before being carted and later the team coach Zac Taylor predicted that he would be out for “several weeks”. In his interview, Chase also mentioned that he spoke with Burrow who expressed great optimism about his impending return.

“He just told me he’s going to see how he feels when the time comes,” Chase said. “You know, he doesn’t know when he’ll be back, but he’ll be back soon.”

If Joe was unable to open the season, Trevor Siemian would be passing to Chase. However, the Bengals’ players and supporters continue to wish for favorable news regarding their preferred quarterback in the regular season’s games.
