WWE Legend Jim Cornette recently spoke about Logan Paul’s match with Ricochet at SummerSlam and also shared his thoughts on Paul being compared to Kurt Angle in his younger days.
The Maverick battled against The One and Only at SummerSlam this Saturday in a singles bout, which he ended up winning. His rivalry with Ricochet has heated up quite a lot in the few weeks leading to The Biggest Party of the Summer. Paul even went as far as to mock Ricochet’s real-life relationship with the ringside announcer, Samantha Irvin. He declared that he would make her declare him the winner of their bout after he beats Ricochet.
Jim Cornette compares Logan Paul and Kurt Angle
On the latest edition of the Jim Cornette Experience, the WWE Legend talked about how after Logan Paul’s match with Ricochet at SummerSlam, he has seen people compare the social media Maverick to Kurt Angle in his younger days, while some said that he was even better than the Olympic Gold Medalist at that time.
He addressed the matter in his video, starting off by saying that he thinks that Paul is a great heel. “I think if he had started at 20 years old training to wrestle and gone to OVW or been in a territory where there were veterans to teach psychology, that by this point right now he might be one of the best ever in the ring”, said Cornette.
However, according to the WWE Legend, the main difference between Kurt Angle and Logan Paul is that Angle or other prodigies like The Rock had to learn to do the work, whereas Paul comes in to do the special matches and he is trained to do these things.
He made a great comparison to a person who has a great voice and can sing others’ songs beautifully vs. someone who can write their own songs. According to him, since Logan Paul hasn’t really gone to wrestling school and started from scratch, he cannot “write his own songs”.
