Draymond Green could be the defensive maestro of the Golden State Warriors, but his popularity expanded beyond the basketball court because of his unique evaluations on the different aspects of the sport.
As the regular season ended, the qualified teams of the league advanced to play the post-season tournaments. Green’s Warriors, who are holding the tenth spot in the West, have to go through the play-in rounds to further proceed in the playoffs with the higher-ranked teams. The vocal forward did not hold himself back from revealing his dislike for the NBA play-ins.
On a recent episode of his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show”, the host said, “I hate the play-in”. Stating how the play-in rounds have made a difference in the league, Dray added, “It’s the best thing ever created. If you look at the play-in and what it’s done for basketball, it’s the best thing ever created.”
Green discussed how the play-ins increased the competitiveness in the league, which made him and his teammates struggle to clinch the final spot for the post-season games. Despite hating their position on the Western table, Dray believes, “As a basketball player, as a basketball fan, this play-in is nuts, and you gotta love it.”
With the former DPOY winner on the team, the Warriors feel confident as they know his impact on the game. However, the franchise received a blow due to his recent injury ahead of the post-season tournament.
Draymond Green’s injury status ahead of play-in game
Golden State needs a win against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday to keep their playoff hopes alive. Their back-to-back injuries at this crucial moment have terrified the franchise as well as the fans. Although head coach Steve Kerr has shown confidence in the squad, Draymond Green’s status initially seemed questionable following a right knee contusion.
After the Lakers game, Green was ruled out of the roster against the Trail Blazers and Jazz in the last week of the regular season. A silver lining appeared for the Warriors as their defensive ace Green’s name was removed from the injury list, as per CBS Sports., ahead of the exciting tournament.
Domantas Sabonis and the Kings should be cautious, as the Warriors’ defensive mastermind will be available at the Golden 1 Center to display an action-filled drama.
