Recently, the “Nico Rosberg curse” has gained traction on social media, and after two distinct instances occurred in Hungary over the last weekend, it just got worse. The idea behind the curse is that whenever the German endorses a sportsperson, he brings them bad luck. And in Budapest, that actually did happen. His selfie didn’t allow Max to win the pole and prevented Lewis from Winning the race.
Following this hilarious talking point on social media, McLaren has issued a ban on world champion Nico Rosberg clicking selfies at the McLaren team garage on the pit lane. To this, Nico has given an even more dangerously funny reply.
McLaren issues hilarious Nico Rosberg ban
As a joke this past weekend in Belgium, McLaren protected its drivers from the Nico Rosberg curse’. They had an A4-sized sign that said, “No Rosberg selfies,” taped to the front of their team garage on the pit lane.
The team uploaded a picture of the sign to social media and wrote, “We’ve seen your jinxing powers, @NicoRosberg.”
The ex-F1 champion took notice of this post made by the McLaren team and replied to them with a threatening reply, saying that he was on his way to click a picture in front of the McLaren factory.

Nico Rosberg was asked about this so-called “Nico Rosberg curse” and he said it’s a habit of his to click selfies outside team garages. “Yeah, that’s not cool. That’s not cool at all,” he said on Sky. “I post, like, on race weekends, I post a picture in the pit lane with a car or something, and that car has gone pretty poorly.”
Rosberg posted selfie in front of Lewis Hamilton paddock ahead of Hungarian GP
Hamilton took pole at last week’s Hungarian Grand Prix, beating the current F1 champion Max Verstappen by a few tenths. Lewis had a poor start on Sunday, which allowed Max to pass him in turn one. Max was followed by Lando and Piastri too. Hamilton caught up to Oscar but, in the end, was overtaken by Sergio Perez’s Red Bull, who took P3. Making it a not-so-memorable weekend for Lewis Hamilton. Fans think the “Nico Rosberg curse” had a part to play in this.
The whole curse caught traction on social media again recently when He took a photo of himself in front of two-time world champion Max Verstappen’s garage before qualifying, which prevented the Dutchman from winning the pole. And similarly, he had a selfie taken outside Lewis Hamilton’s pit lane area before the race, and according to fans, this caused the British driver to fall from first to fourth and miss the podium.
