Bills star Stefon Diggs’ brother Darez Diggs slapped with $100,000 lawsuit over speculated elevator robbery

Though he has no connection with the NFL, Darez Diggs has garnered the attention of NFL fans for being the brother of Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs. Recently, the brother of the stars again came into the limelight for a notorious robbery case.

While Stefon faces the disappointment of falling short in the divisional round and Trevon grapples with an early exit in the wild card round, Darez finds himself entangled in a potential lawsuit.

Darez Diggs is being sued for alleged robbery

A common man named Cristopher Griffith has initiated legal action, seeking $100,000 in damages from Darez Diggs over his alleged involvement in a violent attack. The incident took place in a downtown Los Angeles apartment building last year on May 29, 2023.

The whole scenario was captured on surveillance footage, revealing Diggs and two other men allegedly assaulting Griffith inside an elevator.

The surveillance video reveals Griffith attempting to retreat into the elevator and close the doors. However, Darez Diggs intervenes, preventing the doors from closing and allowing two additional men to join him in attacking Griffith.

The victim claimed that the incident not only subjected him to physical harm but also robbed him of jewelry and other belongings during the assault. As a result, he claimed to have endured pain, suffering, and emotional distress stemming from the incident.

Beyond the individuals directly involved in the attack, Griffith has broadened the scope of his legal action by also suing the owner of the apartment complex for unspecified damages, as per NY Post.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene after the incident, but the suspects had fled before their arrival. Subsequently, a robbery report was filed at the location, documenting the events surrounding the violent encounter.

What punishment could Darez Diggs receive if proven guilty?

Robbery is a felony with severe consequences, which now loom over Darez Diggs. It may potentially lead to a nine-year sentence in state prison and hefty fines if proven guilty. The outcome extends beyond legal penalties for him, posing a substantial threat to his reputation and long-term well-being.

As authorities delve into the investigation surrounding the elevator attack, no arrests have been made thus far. The legal process unfolds with uncertainty, awaiting the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.

The brother of NFL player Stefon Diggs previously played for the Los Angeles Wildcats in the XFL during 2020. His journey in football included stints at Marion University before transferring to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He showcased his versatility in high school, playing positions like wide receiver, running back, and defensive back. Nevertheless, he faced challenges breaking into the NFL, while Stefon’s brother is soaring to NFL stardom and getting back from Trevon.

Beyond football, Darez is engaged in the fashion industry, managing his lifestyle brand and clothing line called Blue Boii.

Meanwhile, his robbery case has been evolving. Stay tuned to get the latest update.
