Despite Damian Lillard’s repeated wishes to join the Miami Heat, he is still playing for the Portland Trail Blazers. There have been many rumors and speculations sparked by Lillard’s desire to join the current Eastern Conference winners.
But for the time being, he still wears the Blazer uniform. Although the unpredictable nature of NBA transactions makes predictions difficult, it appears that Portland is steadfast in its commitment to keeping the star point guard.
Damian Lillard unfollows Blazers on IG
Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers have been overshadowed by the James Harden issue. Despite Lillard’s stated desire to be traded this summer, it appears as though negotiations are moving at a snail’s pace. Lillard’s decision to stop following the team on Instagram is just one sign of his unhappiness.

It’s hardly surprising that Lillard has been unmoved by trade rumors because he wants so much to play for the Miami Heat. This level of detail guaranteed a lengthy discussion. The Blazers’ hesitation can be explained by their discontent with the Heat’s trade proposals, and Lillard’s contract keeping him in Portland until the 2024–25 season further adds to their lack of urgency.
Lillard, in contrast to Harden’s dynamic style, has not yet resorted to extreme methods. Lillard is expected to participate in the Blazers’ training camp even if he is not moved, in part to protect his salary. Lillard might need to follow Harden’s lead and take a more aggressive approach to get traded.
Update on Damian Lillard’s transfer
It’s no coincidence that there hasn’t been much noise about potential trades involving Damian Lillard as of late. The Trail Blazers are still not interested in trading Lillard to the Miami Heat. The Blazers will only trade Lillard, who averaged 32.2 pts, 4.8 rebs and 7.3 asts in 2022-23, provided they get something of value in return, which is satisfactory for them.
Lillard may have some bargaining power in any prospective trade, but how much of an impact he actually has is unclear at this time. Regardless, he will be present at the upcoming training session with the team as of now.
It’s unlikely that Lillard will behave out of character during camp because his past behavior indicates that he is not any kind of a troublemaker. Unfollowing the Blazers on social media could be a hidden signal of his growing dissatisfaction with the team and desire to not continue being with them.
