Bob Myers believes ignoring Nikola Jokic during NBA Draft is the reason why he ended up in analyst role

Nikola Jokic and the juggernaut of the Denver Nuggets keep their hot streak against the Lakers going. Last season’s Western Conference Finals rematch is the marquee series of the play-off first round and Jokic proved again why the suggestions of avoiding the Nuggets were not meaningless talks.

While Jokic was orchestrating the massacre of the gold and purple brigade, Bob Myers, the former GM of the Golden State Warriors, was on commentary duty. He nonchalantly slipped in a comment about Jokic that is now going viral on social media. The analyst said, “I don’t even remember a conversation about Nikola Jokic [during the draft process]. That’s probably why I’m sitting here with you.”

Back in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Warriors entered the event without a pick and left just in the same manner. The Nuggets drafted the Serbian in the second round as pick number 41. Since then, the Dubs have had four championships to their name, but Denver’s current dominance raises the question about what could’ve been had they acquired Jokic.

In the 103-114 win over the Los Angeles franchise, Jokic again led the scoring with his impressive double-double consisting of 32 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Following the game, his HC, Michael Malone was all praises for the Serbian and rightly so.

In the post-game press conference, Michael Malone was asked to comment on Joker’s performance. Raving about his center, Malone discussed how important his statline was to secure the game. He then went on to add, “The bigger the stage, the brighter the lights, he just continues to shine.”

While Malone talked about the performance, Lakers HC also drooped his take regarding the performance of the night. With the league failing to have an answer to Jokic, Darvin Ham seemingly has found the recipe but was not keen on showing his hands just now. According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, Ham said after the match that they had some adjustments in their locker room which they would throw at the Nuggets number 15, as they did not use those in Game 1.

If the Lakers really do have those adjustments for Jokic, they better be good ones cause if Jokic gets into his groove, he can be as dangerous as his animated lookalike, Gru from “Despicable Me”.
