Mike Tyson, one of the biggest names in boxing, has gained notoriety for his antics both inside and outside the ring. Being the youngest champion to win the heavyweight title brings with it significant public attention. Tyson unfortunately, often struggled to maintain his composure especially while handling the various shenanigans fans threw at him.
Even today in his old age, the former champ often makes the news for getting confrontational with fans, admirers, or just regular civilians. Such an incident took place recently on a plane.
Mike Tyson opens up on his brutal altercation with plane passenger
A while ago, a video from TMZ started making the rounds on the internet. Initially, a passenger can be seen annoying Mike verbally. ‘Iron’ tried to shrug off the irresponsible behavior for a bit but ultimately snapped. Flash forward a bit, and Tyson can be seen reportedly punching the culprit in the face.
During a recent appearance on rapper Angie Martinez’s podcast, Mike Tyson opened up about the reason behind hitting a random person on a plane.
“I shouldn’t even be taking public planes. My wife gets mad that I take public planes but what am I gonna do on a f—ing plane with my friends and, what, I guess … a bodyguard and a f—ing Yes Man? What am I gonna do on a plane? It triggers me.” Mike said.
Tyson admitted that he found it challenging to control his anger during the incident on the plane. After continuous teasing, he confessed to experiencing a sense of satisfaction after throwing a punch at the passenger. The intense rush of emotions seemed to have left Tyson feeling gratified despite the situation.
“I don’t like doing it but um it just feels remarkably good when I do it,” Mike added.
Did Mike Tyson face charges after hitting a passenger on a plane
The incident where Mike punched a passenger on the plane sparked significant controversy afterward. Nevertheless, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office decided not to press charges against the boxing legend in relation to the incident.
“These include the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case,” District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe said.
