The San Fransisco 49ers are slated to open their preseason game on 13th August while their main concern is regarding the heart of team Brock Purdy. Purdy appears to be making good progress in his rehabilitation from a severe elbow injury.
His UCL had to be repaired through elbow surgery due to this terrible damage. Even though the quarterback displayed arm strength in camp after recovering from the injury, the head coach of the 49ers believes it is still unsafe to let him play.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan gives an update on Brock Purdy’s return from injury
Brock was the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The player started his NFL journey by collecting the nickname “Mr. Irrelevant”, yet only in one season, he arose as naming him as “Mr. Dependable” for the 49ers.

“I doubt Brock plays,” Shanahan said. “We haven’t fully decided it yet. Usually, when we go scrimmage against guys, we rarely play our starters … [We’re] more into the practices than the games, but I’ve changed my mind a couple times too based on how the practices go. Usually, that’s our plan, but let’s see how those practices go.”
Shanahan has already created a terrific game plan that calls for the player to take part in two out of every three practices to begin camp, two straight, followed by a day off.
Who is going to play as Brock Purdy’s replacement QB vs Raiders?
Jimmy Garoppolo’s signing with the Raiders this summer gave Purdy the opportunity to move up to the starting position after serving as the 49ers’ third-string quarterback the previous year. However, according to the head coaches’ statement, Trey Lance will probably be named to fill the position if he is unable to start the team’s first preseason game.
Lance was their starting quarterback at the start of the 2022 season, but his season was cut short by an ankle fracture he sustained in a Week 2 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Sam Darnold, who they signed to a one-year contract this offseason, also has an option being the starter if Lance could not be able to start.
