He has committed himself to the Magpies until June 2028. While the fans will be happy that he will stay at the club for many years, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has said the contract includes a £100 million release clause that can be activated sometime in the future.
Nevertheless, the club will be happy to have secured the 25 year old footballer, who has been performing very well for them. He had 5 goals and 5 assists for them last season and was crucial in the midfield for their UCL qualification. Being a great passer of the ball, and being technically gifted, he can bring down opponent defenses easily. He is also a good ball winner and helps out his side defensively.

In an interview with the club’s official website, he said, “I’m so happy here. It’s a place that is so comfortable to be and I hope to keep making the supporters happy and helping the team do well. That’s my goal, because there are no words to describe how happy I am to be here.”

He has now declined all of these interests by choosing to stay at St. James’ Park, where he will continue to develop his talents and reputation.
