Caleb Williams plans to enter 2024 NFL draft without the help of an agent

This year’s college football season taught us a host of things, the most important of which was the fact that Caleb Willams, the USC Trojans’ starting QB, is a superstar in the making. Touted by many as the hands-down No. 1 pick in this year’s draft combine, Williams has set the NFL community alight with his skills at such a young age.

However, as the draft draws ever closer, it is revealed that Caleb Williams might actually be considering the fairly risky move of going into the draft without an agent. A ploy rarely put into practice, this move could cost the draft prospect a lot in damages if things were to go south.

Why doesn’t Caleb Williams need an agent?

For every NFL athlete, their agent is like their guiding light in a world full of numbers and contract dealings outside the gridiron; by taking care of the financials and contract obligations of the players, they ensure that the athlete is able to give their best out on the pitch, ultimately benefiting the team as a whole.

However, in Caleb Williams‘ case, he has decided to go down the no-agent route, seemingly trying to work out a deal for himself with the franchise that gets to take the No. 1 pick. This move could save the 22-year-old a boatload of money in commissions, but it could also lead to contractual troubles down the line.

According to NBC Sports Chicago, the reason why Williams isn’t really trying to get an agent is because he knows that it is almost certain that he will be picked by some or another NFL franchise, which allows him to save up some money, especially since he would most likely be on a rookie contract.

Top QBs for 2024 NFL Draft

Caleb Williams is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the amount of talent present on this year’s draft list. With a host of fresh talent coming from all around the country, hoping to be picked up by the NFL franchises, the 2024 NFL draft is shaping up to be a tasty affair.

As for the quarterbacks, Caleb Williams will, of course, be at the top of the pile. However, the likes of Jayden Daniels from LSU, Bo Nix from Oregon, and Michael Penix Jr. from Washington are not to be slept on. Moreover, this draft would feature Shedeur Sanders, son of NFL legend and college football coach Deion Sanders.
