However, the co-founder of Formula E, Alberto Longo, has expressed interest in providing Sergio Perez with an opportunity to enter the industry should he choose to leave Formula One.

There have been numerous speculations circulating about the Mexican driver Sergio Perez’s dismissal from the team before the upcoming 2024 season. Checo had an incredible start last year, clicnhing two consecutive race victories without any miss. However, during the latter half of the season, the 33-year-old profusely lacked behind other drivers on the team, including his teammate, Max Verstappen.

Considering his repetitive underwhelming performance, the Red Bull driver faced a significant threat of being replaced with Daniel Ricciardo at the start of the season. Nonetheless, Checo’s stay until the end of the 2024 season has been officially confirmed as per the reports.

Red Bull is known as the most dominant contender on the tracks currently and can quickly adapt to the track’s environment regardless of the intense difficulties. Even though they have confirmed Perez’s duration in the team until the conclusion of the following season, there is always an existing risk for the Mexican.

Alberto Longo invites Sergio Perez to Formula E

Formula E co founder, Alberto Longo has been friends with Sergio Perez since 2009 where Perez had raced in GP2 for Addax, in which Longo was the team boss at that time. To cherish their friendship, Longo has decided to offer Sergio Perez of transferring to the Formula E industry once he is tired of racing in Formula One cars.

He said “Checo’ is a personal friend […] Every week, every 10 days, I send him a message saying that we love him very much and that we are always waiting for him when he finishes his career in Formula 1.” 

Furthermore, Longo stated, “We wait with open arms for ‘Checo’ when he gets tired of driving in Formula 1.”
