Carlos Sainz Jr. reacts to father Carlos Sainz Sr.’s latest accolade with 3 words

It looks like in the Sainz family, Carlos is not the sole exceptionally skilled driver in the motorsports world. Recently, his father, a prominent figure in the industry, achieved a remarkable victory on the tracks once again.

Despite surpassing age restrictions, the Spanish driver secured a win at the Dakar Rally at the age of 61, leaving his son Carlos Sainz Jr. highly impressed.

Carlos Sainz Jr. reacts to father’s Dakar success

Since making his debut almost four decades ago in a SEAT Panda, Sainz Sr. has been a consistent driver in the industry, leaving behind a legacy that his son, Carlos Sainz, aims to fulfill now.

The 61-year-old has recently clinched the famous Dakar Rally award yet again, marking his fourth triumph at the event.  For the former Rally Champion, it was his 17th time participating at the event, where it was disclosed that his consistency rather than pace had a huge impact on his victories.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was immensely happy upon hearing the joyful news from his father and immediately travelled to Saudi Arabia to celebrate his outstanding triumph. Upon arriving at the bivouac at Yanbu for the celebration, the Spanish driver emotionally stated, “He had to race a lot to win, but he was smarter than anyone else and managed the race as only he knows how. He has completed the smartest Dakar I have ever seen him do in my life. He managed the race perfectly and showed that he also has experience,” indicating his father’s experience in the industry.

Carlos Sainz Jr.’s Ferrari future hangs in balance

On the other side, Carlos Sainz’s future rather became an incomplete canvas, with his increasing demands for the renewal of his contract ahead of the 2024 season. The 29-year-old initially joined Ferrari after the departure of the legend, Sebastian Vettel.

At first, the Spaniard was presented with a 2-year short-term contract that lasted until the end of the 2022 season. However, approaching the end of his current contract in 2024, Sainz has showcased a firm demand regarding his contractual requirements.

The Ferrai driver refuses to drive for Ferrari if he is involved in any “short-term” contract renewal rather than being presented with long-term contracts. Ever since the team has proposed Charles Leclerc a long-term contract, Sainz has been holding his grudges more, being vocal about his decision in recent times.
